Lynne Lorenz
Bayou Bend Docent

"Step back into a pivotal chapter of Houston's global legacy as President George H.W. Bush welcomed G7 world leaders to a memorable working dinner at the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens in 1990"

In this engaging luncheon presentation, Lynne Lorenz reveals the behind-the-scenes orchestration: White House protocol specialists partnering with museum staff to prepare the historic estate for international guests. Learn how three acclaimed Texas chefs united to deliver an exceptional menu, showcasing the art of cuisine as a tool for diplomacy and connection. Marking nearly 36 years since this landmark event, discover enduring insights about  “dining and diplomacy”—how thoughtful hospitality and collaborative entertaining remain vital in navigating today’s geopolitical landscape.

Lynne Lorenz is an "almost native" Houstonian moving to the west side of Houston when she was 7 years old. She is a graduate of UT Austin, has her MBA from Rice University and worked at Compaq/HP in a variety of marketing and operation positions until 2009. In 2014 she purchased a window covering business, Budget Blinds of Houston Inner Loop/Bellaire.

Lynne always had an interest in art history and the decorative arts since she worked in retail in her 20’s.  Her mother became a docent over 25 years ago and encouraged Lynne to join the docent training program in 2011. The Bayou Bend Docent training program is well known and respected throughout the US museum community.  Since then, Lynne has enjoyed being an active member of the Bayou Bend Docent Organization and giving tours to the guests. She joined the Bayou Bend Docent Board in 2015 and again from 2021-2025. Her positions included Program Chair (2015/2016), Speaker’s Bureau Chair (2021-2024), and Recording Secretary (2024-2025). Her time with the Bayou Bend Docent organization has led to a love of American History.
